Origin and character lore

Linebarrels of Iron is a mecha manga created by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. Its universe features extremely advanced combat machines known as Machina, piloted by individuals known as Factors.

The Machina play a central role in the conflicts between various organisations and factions, each seeking to exploit their power and technological capabilities. These machines are distinguished by their highly varied designs, their specific armaments and their close bond with their pilots.

Overdrive forms part of this mechanical universe characterised by fast-paced clashes, transformations and large-scale battles. Its design is in keeping with the series’ distinctive aesthetic, which blends humanoid forms, angular elements and futuristic technologies.
