- THE LORD OF THE RINGS – POP! Premium No. 2161 – Sauron Glow in the Dark
Meet Sauron, the Dark Lord of Middle-earth, with this Funko POP! Premium No. 2161 figurine inspired by The Lord of the Rings. This Glow-in-the-Dark edition features a Premium format that is more elaborate than a standard POP! figure and depicts Sauron on a pedestal inspired by the One Ring. The figure stands approximately 15.7 cm tall.
Sauron is depicted in his imposing dark armour, armed and perched atop a circular base that echoes the design of the One Ring. Inscriptions are incorporated into the pedestal and several details feature a phosphorescent effect, visible in the dark after exposure to light. This presentation directly links the character to the object around which the entire plot of the saga revolves.
Made from PVC/vinyl, this figurine is part of the POP! Premium range, designed for larger and more detailed displays. It is sold in a display box and offers a portrayal of Sauron that focuses particularly on his status as the creator and master of the One Ring.

Origin and character lore
Sauron is a Maia, a primordial spirit from J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium. Originally known as Mairon, he was associated with Aulë before being seduced by Melkor, the future Morgoth, and becoming one of his most powerful servants and lieutenants during the First Age. After Morgoth’s downfall, Sauron pursued his own goal: to subjugate the peoples of Middle-earth to his will.
In the Second Age, Sauron notably assumed the guise of Annatar, the ‘Lord of Gifts’, in order to deceive the Elves of Eregion and play an indirect part in the creation of the Rings of Power. Around the year 1600 of the Second Age, he secretly forged the One Ring in the flames of Orodruin, the Mountain of Destiny. He imbued it with a great deal of his own power in order to dominate the bearers of the other Rings.
Sauron established his kingdom in Mordor and made Barad-dûr the centre of his power. At the end of the Second Age, the Last Alliance of Elves and Men confronted him. After the fall of Elendil and Gil-galad, Isildur cuts off the finger bearing the One Ring and deprives Sauron of it. However, as he could not be definitively destroyed whilst the Ring remained, the Dark Lord gradually regained his power during the Third Age.
During the War of the Ring, Sauron gathered his armies in Mordor to conquer the last free kingdoms. His fate remains directly linked to that of the One Ring: when it is finally destroyed in the flames of Mount Doom on 25 March 3019 of the Third Age, Sauron’s power crumbles and Barad-dûr is destroyed.
This POP! Premium No. 2161 captures precisely this fundamental link between Sauron and the One Ring: the Dark Lord stands atop a pedestal featuring the Ring and its inscriptions, whilst the Glow-in-the-Dark effect enhances the supernatural quality of this depiction.
