Character background and lore

Mei Kinosaki is a marriage swindler capable of quickly seducing her targets and a true specialist in romantic relationships. The character meets Hikaru Gero, heir to an ancient family of assassins, when he is desperately seeking a way to get married in order to prevent his sister from being forced to carry on the family line.

Mei agrees to become his marriage counsellor and helps him improve his appearance, behaviour and understanding of romantic feelings. Their unlikely partnership combines the search for a soulmate, dangerous missions and clashes with various clans in the criminal underworld. Beneath her feminine appearance, Mei is in fact a man – a fact explicitly stated in the character’s official Japanese profile.
