Zero is a leading character in the Mega Man action-platform video game franchise created by Capcom, and is the co-star of the Mega Man X spin-off series introduced in 1993. Originally designed by Doctor Albert Wily, Zero is a highly sophisticated combat android, belonging to the category of Reploids. Evolving in the 21st century alongside Mega Man X, he acts as an elite Maverick Hunter to hunt down defective androids that threaten the peace between humans and machines. Distinguished by his bright red and red armour, his helmet with a blue crystal and his handling of a light sabre (Z-Saber), he favours rapid hand-to-hand combat. His complex story, marked by sacrifice and the quest for his origins, is central to the mythology of the futuristic saga.
