Relive one of the darkest periods in Izuku Midoriya’s journey with this Dark Deku articulated figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations’ S.H.Figuarts range. Standing approximately 14 cm tall, it depicts the young hero after he left Yuei, as he sets out alone to track down the criminals linked to All For One in order to protect his loved ones.

Dark Deku wears a heavily damaged version of his hero costume. The worn surfaces, tears, dirt and uneven details of his outfit reflect the many battles he has endured. His mask with long ears, his unfurled scarf and his reinforced armour give him a far more menacing appearance than that of the enthusiastic student seen at the start of the series.

The figure features the S.H.Figuarts range’s signature articulation system, designed to recreate running, jumping or combat poses. The Blackwhip accessories attach to his back and feature movable joints that allow their orientation to be adjusted around the figure to create various action scenes.

Several interchangeable parts allow you to vary his appearance. The set includes three pairs of hands, two facial expressions, an alternative front lock of hair, an interchangeable mask and a set of articulated Blackwhip effects. Deku can thus be displayed fully masked, with his face uncovered, or surrounded by the dark manifestations of One For All.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Izuku Midoriya was born without a Quirk in a society where supernatural powers have become commonplace. Despite this, he dreams of becoming a hero and catches All Might’s attention thanks to his courage. All Might then passes on to him ‘One For All’, a Quirk that harnesses the power of several generations of Quirk users.

The Dark Deku version corresponds to the period during which Izuku leaves Yuei High School in order to keep his classmates out of harm’s way from All For One and Tomura Shigaraki. He then roams the streets almost without rest, confronting escaped criminals and simultaneously using several abilities inherited from the former holders of One For All. His costume gradually deteriorates, whilst his mask and the manifestations of Blackwhip give him a dark and menacing appearance.

Blackwhip is one of the Alters contained within One For All. It enables Deku to produce long tendrils of black energy that can grasp objects, immobilise opponents or aid his movement. During this period, his obsession with protecting others drives him to isolate himself and neglect his own well-being, until his classmates from Class 1-A intervene.
