Character background and universe (Lore)

Toru Hagakure is a pupil in Class 1-A at Yuei High School in My Hero Academia. She is training to become a professional hero alongside Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki and their classmates.

Under the hero name Invisible Girl, Toru possesses an Alter that renders her body permanently invisible. This ability naturally gives her a considerable advantage in infiltration, reconnaissance and covert operations.

Her invisibility is also one of the series’ most original visual features. For much of her journey, Toru is mainly identifiable by the items she wears, particularly her gloves and boots, which allow other characters and the viewer to track her movements.

As her training progresses, however, she learns to use her Alter in a more offensive manner. In particular, her body possesses special properties relating to light, which she can exploit to deflect or intensify light rays and thus disrupt her opponents’ vision.

Despite the dangerous situations Class 1-A regularly faces, Toru generally remains very enthusiastic and sociable. Her energy and cheerful disposition contrast with the nature of her power, which is particularly suited to espionage.

She shares a close bond with several pupils in her class and plays a full part in the various trials designed to transform Yuei’s trainees into true professional heroes.

This ‘Their Story’ figurine particularly highlights what makes Toru unique in the My Hero Academia universe: a heroine whose presence must be implied rather than directly depicted, resulting in a collector’s item as unusual as the character herself.
