Origin and background of the character
Monkey D. Luffy is the central and legendary protagonist of the global epic One Piece, created by the genius mangaka Eiichiro Oda. Having inadvertently eaten the Rubber Fruit (Gomu Gomu no Mi), the young boy gains a fully stretchable body but loses the ability to swim forever.
