Origin and background of the character
Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of the monumental work One Piece, the best-selling shōnen manga in history, created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997. Having accidentally eaten the Gomu Gomu Devil Fruit (or Hito Hito no Mi, Model Nika), his body acquired the elastic properties of rubber at the expense of his ability to swim. Founder of the Straw Hat Crew, he sails across the Grand Line with his companions to fulfil his ultimate dream: to discover the legendary treasure left by Gol D. Roger and become the new Pirate King. The "The Shukko" range (which literally means "setting sail") stands out for its depiction of the heroes in long jackets or stylised captain’s coats, offering enthusiasts a high-end, meticulous interpretation of the iconic outfits worn throughout the greatest sagas.
