Character background and lore

Trafalgar D. Water Law is the captain and doctor of the Heart Pirates, as well as one of the most iconic members of the generation of pirates known as the Eleven Supernovas.

Originally from the town of Flevance, Law had a particularly tragic childhood. The population of his region was struck by a disease caused by White Lead, leading to the gradual destruction of the town and the loss of his family. This experience played a major part in shaping his cold, distrustful and calculating character.

Whilst still a child, Law joined Don Quixote Doflamingo’s crew, where he met Corazon, whose real name was Don Quixote Rosinante. Corazon played a decisive role in his life and ultimately sacrificed himself to save Law from his illness.

Law then acquired the powers of the Ope Ope no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create a zone called ROOM. Within this space, he can freely manipulate the position and structure of people or objects, giving his techniques an almost surgical precision.

This exceptional ability, combined with his medical skills, has earned him the nickname ‘Surgeon of Death’.

Later, Law forms an alliance with Monkey D. Luffy, initially with the aim of overthrowing one of the Four Emperors. This cooperation leads them, in particular, to the events at Punk Hazard and Dressrosa, where Law directly confronts Doflamingo and must come to terms with the traumas of his past.

Behind his often calm and aloof demeanour, however, lies a man deeply affected by those close to him and driven by a fierce determination to understand the meaning of the mysterious ‘D.’ in his name.

This S.O.C. version highlights a different side to the character: far removed from battles and the spectacular display of his powers, Law appears here relaxed, almost cheeky, in a pose that emphasises his charisma and personality rather than his strength.
