Character background and universe (Lore)

Momon is the adventurer alias used by Ainz Ooal Gown, the main protagonist of Overlord. After being transported to a world that has materialised from the Yggdrasil game universe, Ainz reigns over the Great Tomb of Nazarick and gradually seeks to understand this new environment whilst consolidating his power.

To investigate the outside world more discreetly, Ainz assumes the guise of Momon, a warrior entirely clad in imposing black armour. Under this identity, he makes a name for himself as an adventurer of extraordinary power and quickly acquires an almost legendary reputation.

Momon usually fights with two greatswords and completely conceals his true abilities as a spellcaster. This identity allows him to move amongst humans, gather information and influence certain events without immediately revealing that he is the ruler of Nazarick.

The contrast between Momon, a hero admired by the people, and Ainz Ooal Gown, a powerful undead Overlord, is one of the most interesting aspects of the character and perfectly illustrates the power games, manipulation and identity struggles that lie at the heart of the Overlord universe.
