Recreate the legendary Black Pearl, Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, with this illuminated 3D jigsaw puzzle from Revell. Comprising 293 pieces, this XXL-sized model recreates the dark hull, tall masts, black sails and menacing appearance of the famous pirate ship.

Once assembled, the Black Pearl measures approximately 68 cm in length, 30.8 cm in width and 59.4 cm in height. These generous dimensions allow you to appreciate the ship’s various decks, rigging, gunports and slender silhouette, whilst making for a striking display piece.

The pre-cut pieces slot together without the need for glue or paint. The sails are made from textured paper, whilst the plastic cannons add further depth to the model. The construction also offers a glimpse of part of the ship’s interior.

This edition features an LED lighting system that casts a warm glow through the small openings in the hull. In a dimly lit room, this lighting effect evokes the Black Pearl sailing by night, its black sails and masts making it almost invisible on the sea.

Origin and background of the ship (Lore)

The Black Pearl is the ship most closely associated with Captain Jack Sparrow, an unpredictable and cunning pirate who roams the Caribbean in search of freedom, treasure and new adventures. Disney portrays him as the captain of the Black Pearl and as one of the most legendary pirates of the Seven Seas.

The ship is instantly recognisable by its entirely black hull, masts and sails. This appearance allows it to blend into the darkness and contributes to its reputation as an almost ghostly vessel when sailing at night. Within the film universe, it is also renowned for its great speed.

In *Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl*, Jack Sparrow seeks to reclaim his ship, which has been stolen by his former first mate, Captain Hector Barbossa. Barbossa and his crew attack Port Royal and then kidnap Elizabeth Swann, forcing Jack to join forces with the young blacksmith Will Turner.

The crew of the Black Pearl then fall victim to an ancient curse linked to an Aztec treasure. In the moonlight, the pirates reveal their skeletal forms and discover that they are unable not only to die, but also to fully enjoy food, drink or the pleasures of life.

Once the curse is lifted, the Black Pearl gradually regains its place under Jack Sparrow’s command and becomes a central feature of subsequent adventures. In particular, it crosses paths with the Flying Dutchman, Davy Jones, the East India Company and numerous other pirates.

The ship undergoes several changes of captain and is involved in numerous battles. Despite the rivalries between Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa, both remain deeply attached to the Black Pearl and its reputation in the world of piracy.

In *Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge*, the Black Pearl reappears after having been magically trapped inside a bottle. Freed and restored to its normal size, it sets sail once more to take part in a new confrontation with Captain Armando Salazar.

This LED edition from Revell particularly highlights the ship’s nocturnal character. The light shining through the windows and openings in the hull contrasts with its black sails and enhances its mysterious appearance, as if it were gliding silently through the mist.
