Arcanin (known as Windie in Japan) is a fictional creature from the global Pokémon franchise, created by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. Present since the first generation of video games with the Pokémon Red and Blue versions released in 1996, Arcanin is a Fire-type quadruped Pokémon. It is obtained exclusively by evolving Caninos using a Fire Stone. Described in the Pokédex as the "Legendary Pokémon" because of its divine beauty and speed, it looks like a large orange canine with black streaks and a thick, tousled beige mane. Renowned for its unwavering loyalty to its trainer and its ability to race rigorously over very long distances in a single day, it has become one of the most popular figures in the franchise through anime, card games and spin-off manga.
