In the world of Saint Seiya (The Knights of the Zodiac), a mythological work created by Masami Kurumada, Ikki is the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix. Sent as a child to the hellishDeath Queen Island in place of his younger brother Shun, he underwent extremely brutal training there, which filled his heart with hatred. The first man in history to succeed in donning the legendary Phoenix armour — renowned for its unique ability to rise from the ashes — he initially appears as an adversary to the other Knights before becoming their most powerful ally. A fierce protector, he intervenes alone when the situation seems hopeless.
