Origin and background of the character
Eric Cartman is one of the four main protagonists of the famous American satirical animated series South Park, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in 1997. A Year 4 pupil at primary school, Cartman is known for his obnoxious, manipulative, narcissistic and deeply intolerant nature. This figurine is specifically inspired by the cult episode‘Die Hippie, Die’(Season 9, Episode 2), in which he attempts to warn the town of the imminent invasion of a hippie festival. Faced with the adults’ inaction, Cartman takes matters into his own hands and sets himself up as a professional exterminator. Equipped with his yellow protective suit, a gas mask and a backpack sprayer, he wages a merciless war against hippie culture to save his town from what he considers to be the worst infestation imaginable.
