Origin and background of the character
Jimmy Valmer is one of the most endearing and memorable supporting characters in the American satirical animated series South Park, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in 1997. A Year 4 pupil at South Park Primary School, Jimmy has a physical disability that means he has to walk on crutches, but this in no way dampens his unfailing optimism or his unwavering determination. Passionate about comedy, he dreams of becoming a great stand-up comedian and loves telling jokes, although his pronounced stammer often slows down his punchlines and exasperates his classmates, particularly Eric Cartman. Very popular with the other children because of his kindness and fighting spirit, Jimmy emerges as a central figure in storylines centred on moral or sporting values in the small Colorado town.
