Origin and character lore

The Star Wars saga is set in a galaxy where the Force, an energy field connecting all living beings, can be used by the Jedi and the Sith. The original trilogy mainly recounts the Rebel Alliance’s struggle against the Galactic Empire and its weapon of mass destruction, the Death Star.

Luke Skywalker is a young farmer from Tatooine who discovers he is the son of the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Trained first by Obi-Wan Kenobi and then by Yoda, he gradually becomes one of the Rebellion’s greatest hopes and seeks to restore the Jedi Order.

Leia Organa is the Princess of Alderaan, a Senator and a leader of the Rebel Alliance. Brave, determined and an excellent strategist, she plays a central role in the fight against the Empire. She also discovers that she is Luke’s twin sister and that she, too, has a connection to the Force.

Chewbacca is a Wookiee from Kashyyyk and Han Solo’s loyal co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon. His great strength, courage and loyalty make him a valuable ally to the Rebellion, despite his imposing appearance and his roars, which are difficult for most humans to understand.

Darth Vader is one of Emperor Palpatine’s chief servants. Formerly known as Anakin Skywalker, he was a powerful Jedi Knight before turning to the dark side. Confined to a black armour after being seriously wounded, he became one of the Empire’s most feared symbols.

The Stormtroopers form the main Imperial military force. Recognisable by their white armour, they protect strategic installations, pursue rebels and enforce the Empire’s orders across the galaxy.

This set thus brings together the two sides at the heart of the original trilogy: Luke, Leia and Chewbacca represent the resistance against oppression, whilst Darth Vader and the Stormtrooper embody the military might of the Galactic Empire.
