Character background and universe (Lore)

In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario leaves the Mushroom Kingdom to travel through space and explore numerous planets. Accompanied by Rosalina and the Lumas, he must recover the Power Stars stolen by Bowser in order to save Princess Peach.

The Mario Boo transformation is achieved when Mario collects a Boo Mushroom, a white item adorned with the distinctive face of these ghosts. This power temporarily gives him the appearance and certain abilities of a Boo.

In this form, Mario can float freely through the air and become momentarily intangible, allowing him to pass through certain grilles or walls. These abilities enable him to access areas that would normally be out of reach in the game’s haunted environments.

However, this transformation has one major weakness: Mario Boo cannot tolerate light. When he comes into contact with a beam of light, he immediately loses his power and reverts to his usual appearance.

His appearance mirrors that of the Boos, recurring ghosts from the Super Mario series known for chasing Mario when he turns his back on them, then hiding their faces as soon as he looks at them. However, the red cap and moustache make it possible to distinguish Mario immediately from the other ghosts.

This soft toy thus represents one of the most original transformations in *Super Mario Galaxy*, combining the mischievous appearance of the Boos with the iconic visual elements of Nintendo’s famous hero.
