Origin and character’s universe
Yi is one of the main protagonists of the extended story arc of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, and more specifically of the mini-series The Lost Years, published by IDW Publishing from 2023 onwards. Raised and trained by Casey Marie Jones (Casey Jones’s daughter) alongside April O’Neil, Yi belongs to a whole new generation of four mutant turtles (alongside her siblings Uno, Odyn and Moja) destined to carry on the legacy of the original brothers who have passed away. Distinguished by her keen curiosity, liveliness and chaotic nature, Yi shares many similarities in temperament with Donatello: passionate about technology and mechanics, she loves tinkering with tools and pottering about in April’s garage. Recognisable by her smaller stature and distinctive skin markings, she trains relentlessly to master the martial arts so she can protect a post-apocalyptic New York and carry on the Hamato clan’s legacy.
