Origin and character’s universe
First appearing on screen in 2016 in the acclaimed film The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case directed by James Wan,the Crooked Man is one of the nightmarish and tragic manifestations adopted by the demon Valak to terrorise the Hodgson family in London. This entity draws its origins from a famous old British nursery rhyme recounting the footsteps of a deformed man walking along a winding path. Manifesting through a child’s zoetrope that mysteriously activates in the middle of the night, this monster is distinguished by its disproportionately tall and slender silhouette, its frightening, jerky gait and its grotesque, wide grin. This large collector’s model perfectly captures the asymmetrical, unsettling and memorable anatomy of this cult antagonist, ideal for spectacularly haunting your horror film display cabinet.
