Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Based on the novels by Meg Cabot and adapted for the screen by Garry Marshall in 2001, the story follows Amelia "Mia" Thermopolis, a shy, awkward teenager living in San Francisco. Her life is turned upside down when she learns from her paternal grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, that she is the sole heir to the throne of Genovia, a small European principality. The figurine captures the pivotal moment in the film when, after attending protocol classes and undergoing a makeover by stylist Paolo, Mia trades in her glasses and tousled hair to assume her official role at Genovia's Independence Ball. The headphone detail underlines her attachment to her old, ordinary life, despite her new royal obligations.
