Meet Grimlock, the mighty leader of the Dinobots, with this Funko POP! Retro Toys No. 179 figure, released to mark the 40th anniversary of *The Transformers: The Movie*. Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Grimlock is the leader of the Dinobots, a group of Autobots whose alternate forms are inspired by dinosaurs. His most famous transformation is that of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the form chosen specifically for this POP! figure. Hasbro describes him as the powerful leader of the Dinobots and as one of the strongest robots in the Transformers universe.

The character is distinguished by a particularly forthright and belligerent personality. Grimlock generally relies on his physical strength, his jaws and his brute force when facing the Decepticons. Although he can sometimes be difficult to control and regularly challenges authority, he remains committed to the Autobots’ cause and acts as a formidable fighting force when the Dinobots are engaged in battle.

In *The Transformers: The Movie*, an animated film released in 1986, Grimlock and the Dinobots play a key role alongside Optimus Prime and the other Autobots in their fight against the Decepticons and the threat posed by Unicron. It is precisely the 40th anniversary of this film that Funko is celebrating with this 2026 Retro Toys series.
