The legendary Avatar Aang joins Funko’s Pop! Movies collection with this figurine, numbered 2106, inspired by the animated film *Avatar: The Last Airbender*. Character background and lore

The worldof Avatar: The Last Airbender is divided into four great nations associated with the elements of water, earth, fire and air. Some people can master their people’s element, but onlythe Avatar is capable of learning all four forms of bending and maintaining the balance between the physical world and the spirit world.

Aang is a young Air Nomad designated as the new incarnation of the Avatar. When he learns of his destiny at the age of just twelve, he becomes frightened and leaves his temple with his flying bison, Appa. Caught in a violent storm, the two companions are trapped inside an iceberg for a hundred years.

During his absence, the Fire Nation unleashes a world war and wipes out the Air Nomads. Freed from the ice by Katara and Sokka, Aang discovers that he is now the last known member of his people. He then embarks on a long journey to master water, earth and fire before confronting Fire Lord Ozai.

Aang eventually brings the Hundred Year War to an end without compromising his pacifist principles. Rather than killing Ozai, he uses energy mastery to strip him of his powers, thereby restoring balance amongst the nations.

The animated film *Avatar: The Last Airbender* continues the story following this victory. Now a more experienced Avatar, Aang works with his friends to rebuild the Airbender community whilst preventing new forces from exploiting the period of transition to seize power.

This Pop! Movies figurine depicts Aang during this new phase of his journey: no longer merely the young survivor of the Air Nomads, but a leader tasked with preserving peace and passing on the legacy of his people.
