Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Gilbert Kane is the first officer of the commercial space tug USCSS Nostromo in Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien. While exploring an alien ship abandoned on the moon LV-426, Kane descends into a cargo hold filled with strange eggs. As he approaches one of them, a parasite jumps into the astronaut's face, shattering his visor and attaching itself firmly to it in order to keep its host alive while implanting an embryo. This tragic event marks the start of the Nostromo's infestation and seals the crew's fate in the face of the xenomorph.
