Character background and lore

Shang-Chi is an exceptional fighter, trained from childhood to become an assassin. After discovering the true nature of the organisation led by his father, he chooses to turn his back on this legacy and use his talents to protect others.

A master of kung fu and numerous martial arts disciplines, Shang-Chi is distinguished by his agility, speed and mastery of close-quarters combat. He initially possesses no supernatural powers, but his intensive training enables him to take on opponents far more powerful than himself.

Following his confrontation with his father, Shang-Chi becomes the bearer of the Ten Rings, mysterious artefacts capable of multiplying his strength tenfold, projecting powerful waves of energy and being used as ranged weapons. In *Avengers: Doomsday*, he returns as a new member of the Avengers and could play a crucial role in confronting the threat looming over the various universes.
