Character background and lore
Created by author Koushi Tachibana, Kurumi Tokisaki is the third Spirit to appear in the story, known by the codename ‘Nightmare’. She stands out from the other Spirits due to her apparent cruelty and the fact that she has cold-bloodedly killed thousands of people. In reality, she uses these human lives to sustain her own existence and power her all-powerful Angel, Zaphkiel – a massive clock face that allows her to manipulate time (past, present and future) using her two flintlock-style pistols.Torn between her role as a complex antagonist and her growing feelings for the protagonist, Shido Itsuka, Kurumi operates according to her own rules from the shadows in order to achieve her secret objective: to travel back in time to eliminate the very first Spirit and prevent global catastrophes.
