Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Tanjiro Kamado is a young coal merchant whose life is turned upside down the day his family is brutally slaughtered by a demon, with the exception of his little sister Nezuko, who is transformed into a bloodthirsty creature. Driven by a spirit of justice and a burning desire to restore his sister's humanity, he joins the ranks of the demon-slaying army. Equipped with his black Nichirin blade and an overdeveloped sense of smell, Tanjiro masters the fighting art of the Breath of Water before awakening the powerful and ancestral Dance of the God of Fire (Hinokami Kagura). The Sumi-ink finish pays vibrant homage to the very aesthetics of the original work, recalling the large, dynamic brushstrokes that characterise the animation of the series' fighting techniques.
