Origin and world of the character (Lore)
Nezuko Kamado is Tanjiro's younger sister and the only other survivor of the massacre of their family by the demon king, Muzan Kibutsuji. Transformed into a demon herself during the attack, she miraculously retains some of her humanity and refuses to eat human flesh. To control her impulses and protect those around her, she constantly wears a bamboo gag. Able to alter her body size to hide in the wooden box her brother carries on his back, she fights alongside him using her demonic physical strength and fiery blood power. The Sumi-ink finish beautifully underlines the tragic duality and poetic grace of this character who has become a key figure in today's pop culture.
