Origin and background of the model (Lore)

The Evangelion Production Model-New 02 α appears in *Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time*, the final film in the *Rebuild of Evangelion* tetralogy. It is a radically modified evolution ofthe EVA-02, the unit historically associated with Asuka Shikinami Langley.

Following the extensive damage and modifications sustained by the EVA-02 throughout the course of events, the unit was rebuilt using components from the JA-02, giving rise to this hybrid version nicknamed ‘Body Assembly Cannibalised’. Its deliberately disparate appearance perfectly illustrates the desperate situation in which the WILLE forces find themselves.

This configuration retains the EVA-02’s signature red colour scheme whilst incorporating much heavier, more industrial mechanical elements. The result is a machine that is markedly more asymmetrical than the classic Evangelions, with an almost makeshift aesthetic that directly reflects the circumstances of its reconstruction.

This Kotobukiya model kit therefore allows you to recreate one of the final and most distinctive incarnations of the EVA-02, particularly prized for its technical design and its role in the saga’s final film instalment.
