Character’s origin and universe

Evangelion is one of the major works of Japanese animation, blending science fiction, psychological drama, mecha battles and existential questions. In the Rebuild of Evangelion universe, humanity battles mysterious entities known as Angels using gigantic humanoid units called Evangelions.

Shinji Ikari is the pilot of Evangelion Unit-01. Summoned by his father, Gendo Ikari, to join NERV, he finds himself faced with an overwhelming responsibility: piloting the EVA-01 to protect humanity, whilst grappling with his fears, his loneliness and his need for recognition.
