Origin and background of the character

Rebuild of Evangelion is a film series that reinterprets the cult universe of Neon Genesis Evangelion, blending science fiction, psychological drama, mecha battles and existential questions. The story follows young pilots tasked with controlling the Evangelions, gigantic units used to battle mysterious enemies known as Angels.

Shikinami Asuka Langley is one of the main pilots in the Rebuild saga. Designated as the “Second Girl”, she is associated with Evangelion Unit-02 and is characterised by her combative nature, self-confidence and competitive spirit. Behind her proud and defiant demeanour lies a complex character, marked by loneliness, a need for recognition and the trials imposed by the battles against the Angels.
