Recreate three iconic units from the Evangelion universe with this ARTPLA Sculpture Works Unit-01 / Unit-02 / Prototype-00 set. Produced by Kaiyodo, this set features three plastic model kits to assemble, inspired by the famous Evangelion sculptures and reworked into a compact and accessible format.

The set includes Evangelion Unit-01, Evangelion Unit-02 and Evangelion Unit-00 Kai / Prototype-00. Each unit has been scaled down from a resin prototype to fit onto a single 230 × 190 mm sprue, allowing for quick assembly with a minimal number of parts, whilst retaining a dynamic composition and a wealth of sculpted detail.

Once assembled, the units look very expressive despite their miniature size. Unit-01 and Unit-02 measure approximately 9.5 cm, whilst Unit-00 Kai / Prototype-00 stands at approximately 12 cm. The title ‘Probems’ therefore refers to the maximum height of the box set.

This model kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is aimed at Evangelion fans, collectors of Japanese model kits and enthusiasts of ARTPLA kits who wish to experience Kaiyodo’s sculptural aesthetic in a DIY format. Paint is not included, allowing modellers to customise the final look according to their skill level and preferences.

Origin and background of the models

Evangelion is a major work of Japanese animation, blending science fiction, psychological drama, religious symbolism and mecha battles. The series features Evangelion units piloted by young teenagers to combat entities known as Angels, in a world marked by the consequences of the Second Impact.

The Evangelion Unit-01 is the series’ most iconic unit, associated with Shinji Ikari. Its purple and green colour scheme, organic silhouette and intense battle scenes make it one of the most recognisable mechas in Japanese animation.

The Evangelion Unit-02, generally associated with Asuka Langley, is distinguished by its red colour scheme and combative nature. It represents a more advanced production model, designed for direct combat and spectacular clashes.

The Evangelion Unit-00 Kai / Prototype-00, associated with Rei Ayanami, is a modified version of the prototype unit. Its inclusion in this set brings together the three main Evangelions in a compact, cohesive collection that is highly representative of the franchise.
