Origin and character lore

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror game series created by Scott Cawthon. The first instalment puts the player in the role of a night watchman working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a family restaurant whose main attractions are animatronic animals designed to entertain children during the day.

When the restaurant closes, the mascots begin to roam freely through the corridors. The night watchman must monitor their movements via security cameras, manage a limited power supply and prevent the animatronics from reaching his office until dawn.

Freddy Fazbear is the brown bear after whom the establishment is named. As the lead singer of the band, he wears a top hat and a black bow tie. His friendly mascot appearance contrasts with his menacing behaviour at night.

Bonnie is a purple animatronic rabbit associated with the guitar. He is one of the most mobile characters in the first game and gradually moves from the main stage towards the corridors near the caretaker’s office.

Chica is a yellow animatronic hen wearing a bib. A member of Freddy’s band, she mainly explores the rooms on the opposite side to Bonnie and can be spotted via the cameras and the noises coming from the kitchens.

Foxy is a damaged pirate fox based at Pirate Cove. Unlike the other animatronics, he remains hidden behind a curtain before dashing quickly towards the office when the player stops watching him for long enough.

As the series unfolds, the player discovers that Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza harbours a history marked by disappearances, accidents and supernatural events. The animatronics are therefore not merely faulty machines: they are linked to the mysteries and tragedies surrounding the establishment.

This box set brings together the four main mascots from the original game and represents the iconic group that gave rise to the visual and horror-themed identity of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.
