In the independent sci-fi role-playing video game Gnosia, developed by Petit Depotto, the action takes place aboard a drifting spaceship, infiltrated by deadly alien entities known as ‘Gnosia’, which eliminate humans one by one every night. Setsu is a non-binary character who serves as a cadet officer on board the ship. Just like the protagonist played by the player, Setsu is trapped in an infinite time loop that resets every time the crew fails or is eliminated. Quickly becoming the player’s closest ally, Setsu uses the knowledge accumulated over the course of the loops to unravel the mystery of the Gnosia and find a way to break this temporal anomaly in order to save the crew, embodying a tragic figure of perseverance and loyalty in the vastness of space.
