Character background and universe (Lore)

Yoshikage Kira is the main antagonist of Diamond Is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. He lives in Morioh and seeks above all to lead a discreet, uneventful life, free from any outside attention.

Behind his appearance as a calm and respectable office worker, however, lies a serial killer who has been active for many years. Kira organises his life with great precision so as never to arouse the suspicions of his colleagues, neighbours or the authorities.

He possesses a Stand called Killer Queen, a humanoid entity with the power to transform objects it touches into bombs. Kira can then trigger their explosion without leaving the usual traces of a crime, enabling him to make his victims and any incriminating evidence disappear.

Killer Queen also possesses Sheer Heart Attack, a particularly resilient autonomous bomb that tracks heat sources. This ability forces Jotaro Kujo and Koichi Hirose into a gruelling confrontation as they begin to close in on the murderer’s identity.

Kira is finally uncovered following the disappearance of Shigekiyo Yangu. The heroes of Morioh gradually track him down, forcing him to abandon his true identity and assume the appearance of Kosaku Kawajiri in order to escape his pursuers.

Under this new identity, he settles into the Kawajiri family and attempts to resume a normal life. Kosaku’s son, Hayato, however, quickly notices changes in the behaviour of the man he believes to be his father and begins to investigate him.

When Kira acquires a new ability, ‘Bites the Dust’, ‘Killer Queen’ can create a time loop designed to eliminate anyone who discovers his identity. This development makes his power even more dangerous and places Hayato at the centre of the final confrontation.

Josuke Higashikata, Jotaro Kujo, Koichi Hirose, Okuyasu Nijimura and their allies must then join forces to put an end to his crimes. The battle against Kira marks the climax of *Diamond Is Unbreakable* and makes the protection of Morioh a shared objective for the various Stand users.

This Pop! No. 2488 thus depicts one of the saga’s most memorable antagonists, recognisable by his elegance, his apparent calm and the contrast between his public demeanour and the true nature of his actions.
