Character background and universe (Lore)

Koichi Hirose is one of Josuke Higashikata’s key allies in *Diamond Is Unbreakable*, the fourth part of *JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure*. He lives in Morioh with his family and begins the story as a reserved, cautious secondary school pupil who is unaccustomed to dangerous situations.

His life changes when he meets Josuke and Jotaro Kujo, and subsequently finds himself caught up in the events surrounding the bow and arrow capable of awakening Stands. After being struck by the arrow, Koichi develops his own supernatural power, named Echoes.

At the start of the story, Koichi lacks self-confidence and often relies on Josuke or Jotaro to face enemy Stand users. However, his many trials enable him to gradually become braver, more independent and capable of making decisions under pressure.

He also has a complex relationship with Yukako Yamagishi, a Stand user who was initially obsessed with him. Following a particularly dangerous confrontation, their relationship evolves and Koichi eventually acknowledges the young woman’s feelings.

Koichi plays a crucial role in the hunt for Yoshikage Kira. During his clash with Sheer Heart Attack, he uses Echoes ACT 3 to slow down Killer Queen’s autonomous bomb, allowing Jotaro to continue the fight despite his injuries.

His reliability and courage earn him the respect of Jotaro Kujo, who is otherwise generally reserved. Koichi thus becomes one of the key members of the group tasked with protecting Morioh and putting an end to Kira’s crimes.

This Pop! No. 2489 depicts Koichi in a more confident pose, reflecting his development from a shy schoolboy into a courageous Stand user who is indispensable to the heroes of *Diamond Is Unbreakable*.
