Origin and backstory of Derpy Tiger (Lore)

Derpy Tiger is one of the most endearing supernatural creatures in K-Pop Demon Hunters. Despite his imposing appearance as a large blue feline, he often behaves in a clumsy, curious and particularly expressive manner, quickly making him one of the film’s most recognisable characters.

Derpy is linked to Jinu, the leader of the Saja Boys, and acts in particular as a supernatural messenger. He is regularly accompanied by Sussie Bird, a strange six-eyed bird who shares several memorable appearances with him.

As the story unfolds, Derpy also develops a bond with the members of HUNTR/X, the trio comprising Rumi, Mira and Zoey. These three K-pop stars lead double lives: when they’re not performing on stage, they use their powers to protect their fans from demonic threats.
