Origin and character lore

Derpy Tiger is a large, supernatural blue tiger from the demon world. Despite his size, fangs and potentially intimidating appearance, he is best known for his clumsy behaviour, his exaggerated smile and his affectionate nature.

He regularly appears alongside Sussie Bird, a strange six-eyed bird who accompanies him on his travels. The duo act as messengers between the demon world and the human world, whilst adding a significant element of humour to the story.

The appearance of Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird is inspired by traditional Korean folk paintings depicting a tiger and a magpie. In these works, the tiger often adopts a naive or comical expression, whilst the bird plays the role of a more alert observer.
