Character background and lore

Jiji is the black cat who accompanies Kiki when she leaves her family to begin her year of witch’s apprenticeship. Cautious, observant and often ironic, he acts as the young girl’s confidant and helps her adapt to her new life in the port town of Koriko.

When Kiki sets up her delivery service using her flying broomstick, Jiji accompanies her on her journeys and through her many encounters. His black silhouette, large eyes and pointed ears have made him one of the most recognisable characters in *Kiki’s Delivery Service*.
