Sally is one of the main characters in The Nightmare Before Christmas, a stop-motion animated film conceived by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. She lives in Halloween Town and was created by Dr Finkelstein, who regards her as his property and regularly attempts to control her movements.

Despite her artificial nature, Sally is characterised by great sensitivity, remarkable intelligence and a deep desire for freedom. She is also one of the few inhabitants of Halloween Town to realise that Jack Skellington’s plan to take control of Christmas risks ending in disaster.

Sally harbours deep feelings for Jack Skellington and tries to protect him when she senses the dangers associated with his obsession with Christmas Town. Their relationship is one of the film’s major emotional threads.
