Shock is one of the three mischievous children of Halloween Town in *The Nightmare Before Christmas*, a film conceived by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. Together with Lock and Barrel, she forms an inseparable trio known for their pranks, squabbles and penchant for chaos.
The three characters work for Oogie Boogie and carry out various missions on his behalf. They play a particularly important role when Jack Skellington asks them to kidnap Father Christmas, a task that ultimately delivers Santa straight into Oogie Boogie’s hands.
Shock is generally portrayed as the most cunning and level-headed of the trio. Her appearance as a little witch, with her pointed hat and mask, immediately sets her apart from Lock and Barrel.
