Origin and background of the character
Shaquille O’Neal, a force of nature and one of the most dominant centres in NBA history, defined the golden age of the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000s by achieving a historic ‘three-peat’. This figurine specifically commemorates the epic Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals (WCF) on 4 June 2000 against the Portland Trail Blazers. Trailing by 15 points in the fourth quarter, the Lakers staged a legendary comeback, capped by a legendary alley-oop from Kobe Bryant to Shaq for a thunderous dunk. Wearing his classic yellow ‘Icon Edition’ home kit with the number 34 on the back, Shaq bursts with joy as he runs across the court with his mouth wide open and his index fingers pointing skywards – an iconic image etched into the memory of every basketball fan.
