Origin and background of the model

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a major instalment in the series created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami. The game continues the story of Solid Snake in a future dominated by privatised conflicts, nanomachines and large-scale military control systems.

The Metal Gear REX is one of the franchise’s most famous mechas. Originally designed as a bipedal nuclear weapon, it quickly became a video game icon thanks to its massive design, its central role in the Metal Gear Solid storyline and its aura of technological menace.

In Metal Gear Solid 4, REX reappears in a damaged state, scarred by battle and the passage of time.
