Origin and background of the character
Zabuza Momochi, also known as the ‘Demon of the Mist’, is one of the first major antagonists in the Naruto manga and anime (Naruto Classic era). A native of the Hidden Village of Kiri, he is a high-ranking renegade ninja and a distinguished member of the legendary Seven Mist Swordsmen. An undisputed master of the art of silent assassination and water-based techniques (Suiton), he wields the gigantic sword Kubikiribōchō (the Kiri Cleaver). Accompanied by his loyal young disciple Haku, his memorable clash with Kakashi Hatake and Naruto Uzumaki’s Team 7 on the bridge in the Land of Waves remains one of the most poignant and defining story arcs in the entire saga.
