Origin and world of the character

Queen Clarisse Renaldi is a character from the film world of the romantic comedy Princesse Malgré Elle(The Princess Diaries), produced by Walt Disney Pictures in 2001 and adapted from the novel by Meg Cabot. In the plot, Clarisse Renaldi is the sovereign of the fictional European principality of Genovia. Following the death of her only son, she travels to San Francisco to reveal to her teenage granddaughter, Mia Thermopolis, that she is the sole heir to the throne. The story develops the learning of royal protocols and court etiquette that the queen instils in the young girl before she takes up her official duties.
