Barrel is one of the three mischievous children of Halloween Town in *The Nightmare Before Christmas*, a film conceived by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. Together with Lock and Shock, he forms an inseparable trio known for their pranks, their love of chaos and their connection to Oogie Boogie.
The three characters are tasked by Jack Skellington with kidnapping Father Christmas so that Halloween Town can take control of the Christmas festivities. However, their mission ultimately benefits Oogie Boogie directly, who becomes one of the film’s main threats.
Barrel is generally portrayed as the most cheerful and naive member of the group, with a small skeleton-like appearance that immediately sets him apart from Lock and Shock.
