Its multi-layered structure helps protect your desk or workbench from nicks caused by craft knives, scalpels and other sharp tools. It also provides a stable base for working on plastic parts, paper, thin cardboard, masking tape or decal sheets.

The mat has a so-called ‘self-healing’ surface: small superficial cuts tend to close up after the blade has passed over them, which helps to maintain a relatively smooth working surface that remains usable for longer. This property also limits the formation of grooves that might cause the blade to veer off course during subsequent cuts.

Guide lines, graduations and markings are printed on the surface to facilitate measuring, alignment and straight cuts. The grid pattern, in particular, allows components to be positioned more consistently before cutting or assembly.

The matt, non-reflective blue finish reduces glare from lighting in the work area. It therefore improves visual comfort during prolonged sessions of assembly, cutting or preparation of parts.
