Top Gun — Maverick’s F-14A Tomcat — Revell Brick System, 2,687 pieces
Relive the aerial scenes from the cult film Top Gun with this impressive replica of Maverick’s F-14A Tomcat, designed by Revell as part of its Brick System range. Comprising 2,687 bricks, this officially licensed model combines the world of cinema with a technical building experience aimed at adult enthusiasts.
The variable-geometry wings can be pivoted to display the Tomcat in different configurations. They can be extended to simulate take-off or landing on an aircraft carrier, or retracted to reproduce its characteristic high-speed profile.
The model also features retractable landing gear and removable armament. These features allow you to alter the aircraft’s appearance depending on the scene or type of mission being depicted.
The bricks fit together without glue, paint or any special tools. An illustrated, multilingual instruction booklet is included with the set to guide the construction of the fuselage, wings, cockpit and the aircraft’s various components.

Origin and historical context
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a carrier-based fighter aircraft developed for the US Navy. Designed to operate from aircraft carriers, it is notable for its twin engines, two-seater cockpit and variable-geometry wings.
The wings can automatically adjust their angle depending on speed and flight conditions. They remain fully extended to facilitate low-speed manoeuvres and operations on aircraft carriers, then gradually sweep back to reduce aerodynamic drag during high-speed flight. The actual system was capable of varying their angle from approximately 28 to 60 degrees.
The F-14 was originally designed as an interceptor capable of protecting carrier strike groups against enemy aircraft and long-range missiles. In particular, it was equipped with a powerful radar and various air-to-air missiles, whilst retaining good manoeuvrability for close-quarters combat.
The aircraft made its maiden flight in 1970 and entered service with the US Navy during the 1970s. It remained in service for over three decades and took part in several military operations before being withdrawn from US service in 2006.
The F-14 became a true cultural icon thanks to the film *Top Gun*, released in 1986. The story follows Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a talented but undisciplined pilot, who is selected alongside his radar intercept officer Nick “Goose” Bradshaw to undergo training at the US Navy’s elite flight school.
In the film, Maverick and Goose fly an F-14A and face off against fictional aircraft known as MiG-28s. The flight scenes, aerial manoeuvres and sequences set around aircraft carriers played a major part in turning the Tomcat into an icon of 1980s action cinema. Revell thus presents the aircraft as the undisputed star of the film and as a symbol of aerial mastery.
Although the product name refers to *Top Gun: Maverick*, this version of the F-14A, complete with figures of Maverick and Goose, primarily corresponds to the aircraft and crew from the original 1986 film *Top Gun *.
This Brick System model captures the most recognisable features of the real aircraft and its cinematic counterpart: its swing-wing design, its two-seater cockpit, its landing gear and its silhouette, designed for high-speed operations from an aircraft carrier.
