Character background and lore
Created by independent developer ZUN (Team Shanghai Alice), Marisa Kirisame is a human sorceress residing in the Forest of Magic within the mystical world of Gensokyo. Unlike those born with innate powers, Marisa has acquired her abilities through hard work, intensive study and experimentation with magic mushrooms. Specialising in light and heat magic, she is famous for her devastating attack, the Master Spark.As the owner of the ‘Kirisame Magic Shop’, she spends much of her time resolving magical incidents in Gensokyo alongside her rival and friend, the priestess Reimu Hakurei, or discreetly pilfering spellbooks from the library of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
