History and background of the model
The character of Sam (short for Samhain) was created by director and screenwriter Michael Dougherty for the 2007 sketch anthology film Trick 'r Treat. Depicted as a mysterious child in worn orange pyjamas and a hessian mask with buttons for eyes, he conceals an ancient demonic entity beneath his childlike appearance. Sam acts as the physical manifestation of Halloween, violently punishing those who break or ignore the night's sacred traditions (such as extinguishing a pumpkin before midnight or refusing to give out sweets). Over the years, he has become a modern cult figure in horror films.Marketed by manufacturer Funko, the "Doodles" artistic variant revisits the character's aesthetic by covering his silhouette with printed graphic motifs, paying homage to the illustrations and preparatory research drawings.- *
