Rediscover one of the most iconic figures from classic horror cinema with this Ultimate figurine of Frankenstein’s Monster, produced by NECA as part of its Universal Monsters collection. This version is directly inspired by the 1939 film *Son of Frankenstein* and recreates the appearance of the creature portrayed by Boris Karloff. Fully articulated and presented in colour, it measures approximately 17 cm and joins the other classic Universal monsters in the Ultimate range.

The figure features the distinctive costume worn by the monster in *Son of Frankenstein*, notably his imposing sheep’s wool waistcoat. The sculpt captures Boris Karloff’s features, and several interchangeable parts allow you to change his expression and pose. The set includes, notably, two alternative heads, several interchangeable hands, the book *Fairy Tales*, and Inspector Krogh’s prosthetic arm – accessories directly linked to scenes and characters from the film.

This release also serves as a special tribute to the history of the Universal Monsters, as *Son of Frankenstein* marks Boris Karloff’s third and final portrayal of the Monster in the original series. Character background and lore

Released in 1939 and directed by Rowland V. Lee, Son of Frankenstein is one of the great films in the original Universal Monsters series. It features Wolf von Frankenstein, son of the famous scientist, who returns to the family castle twenty-five years after the monster’s supposed disappearance. Once there, he meets Ygor, who reveals that the creature is still alive but lies in a comatose state.

Hoping to restore his family’s reputation, Wolf decides to bring the monster back to life and attempts to rehabilitate him. His intentions are, however, thwarted by Ygor, who exploits the creature to satisfy his own desire for revenge. The film stars Basil Rathbone as Wolf von Frankenstein, Bela Lugosi as Ygor and Lionel Atwill as Inspector Krogh.

Boris Karloff plays the Monster for the third and final time, following *Frankenstein* (1931) and *Bride of Frankenstein* (1935). This NECA figurine accurately recreates this 1939 incarnation, recognisable in particular by his woollen waistcoat, and includes several accessories directly inspired by *Son of Frankenstein*, including Inspector Krogh’s artificial arm and the book *Fairy Tales*.
